Giant Duckweed (Spirodela Polyrhiza)

Giant duckweed is an excellent beginner aqua plant, highly adaptable and great for absorbing waste from the water column. It uptakes nitrates and other waste helping combat dirty water, reducing stress on fish. It is a vibrant green and in higher light it can turn dark red/ purple on the underside, and sometimes even on top. Great for fry cover and providing shade to timid fish. Typically this duckweed is preferred to regular duckweed by hobbyists. 

Lower lighting will result in slower growth but giant duckweed is adaptable to both low light and high light, and low to moderate surface agitation.
