Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia praecox)
The Dwarf neon rainbow fish is a little rocket of a fish- they are very fast and always on the move flashing their neon bodies and red(males) and yellow(females) fins. They are best suited for a well planted aquarium, if your tank is not well planted they may hide and become shy. Undemanding fish, but they can jump so a secure lid is also recommended, the use of floating plants will deter jumping activity as well.
These fish are very social and do best when in a group minimum size 6-8.
