Javanese Ricefish (Oryzias Javanicus)

Javanese Ricefish are excellent beginner fish, they are one of the hardiest available species and have fantastic personalities. They are very peaceful and active in the aquarium, always searching around occupying all areas of the aquarium if there is lots to explore.

Ricefish are cool water species and do not require a heater and their filter requirements are minimal. They do not like much water flow in the aquarium so a sponge filter is the way to go.

• pH - 7.0 - 8.5
• KH - 12 - 25 dGH (sometimes enters brackish waterways) 
• Tank Size - minimum 10 gallons for a group
• Omnivore - it is important to feed them a varied diet including protein and vegetable matter for their health but they are not picky eaters.
• Difficulty - easy

Average Adult Size: 1.8 inches (4.5 cm)

Average Purchase Size: .8 – 1 inch (2 – 2.5 cm)
